DROP BOTTOM BULK STEEL

Drop Bottom bulk steel containers are standard units that come in four different sizes with standard heights of 18” or 24”. All four sides are constructed of 13 gauge corrugated sheet steel with heavy duty corners and 7 gauge stacking targets. A 7 gauge sheet steel bottom is hinged at one end of the box and when it is open acts as a chute that allows bulk material to dump out. This particular Drop Bottom can only be operated by one of two methods or both:

DROP BOTTOM STAND

The Drop Bottom container can only be lifted from the back end when performing this operation. The container is lifted by a forktruck and is carefully driven into the stand which is open on one end to receive the container. When the container is all the way into position against the front angle stop of the stand it is lowered and a specially formed hook welded to the front of the container will hook onto the angle stop allowing the hinged bottom to open independently from the container when it is lowered by a forktruck. As the forktruck continues to lower the Drop Bottom container, the back end of the hinged bottom comes to rest on the back stops welded on both sides of the stand. After the container is secured on the front angle stop and the back stops the forktruck operator gradually lowers and backs out allowing the hinged bottom to completely open to a tray or chute allowing contents to dump out. This method is normally used on assembly lines or line feed belt conveyors.
